Bobby Ups His Fashion Game!
The Bobby Broom Trio’s Debut Album Re-release
Stand!, the 2001 debut recording by the Bobby Broom Trio (featuring Dennis Carroll and Dana Hall) has been digitally remastered and is available once again on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and all major streaming platforms. Plans are also being made for a limited edition vinyl release for the album’s 25th anniversary next year.
Jazz Guitar Life
Bobby appears in a recent episode of Lyle Robinson’s Jazz Guitar Life Podcast. Robinson shares news about the new Chicago Jazz Orchestra/Bobby Broom recording in tribute to guitar icon Wes Montgomery, More Amor. Broom will be a featured guest for an upcoming JGL Podcast episode.
Bobby’s Athens Master Class
While in Greece this past February, Bobby conducted a two-plus hour master class that seems to have taken the internet by storm, garnering 13K views in the two weeks since it was posted to YouTube. Watch an excerpt here that links to the full video:
Listen to Bobby’s WNIJ Radio Show, “Jazz Spectrum”
Bobby hosts his radio show on Northern Illinois University’s WNIJ, NorthernPublicRadio.org. The show will air on Fridays, from 7 – 9PM CST. It features jazz music curated by Broom. “This is a most exciting venture for me,” Broom says. “I’ve been told for years that I have a radio voice. I think that hearing that, planted a seed as something that I wanted to do that has finally bloomed.”
The weekly show began airing on June 14th,2024 and has continued every Friday. It can be heard at wnij.org, via the “play” button. It’s also available via mobile apps for iPhone

WGN Evening News “Chicago’s Very Own” Feature
Bobby was featured on “Chicago’s Very Own,” the WGN Evening News segment produced by Emmy winning Anchor, Micah Materre. After Materre attended a couple of Broom’s live performances, pre and post pandemic, the news crew shadowed him, capturing him during his teaching duties as tenured Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University and Ravinia Jazz Mentor to Chicago public high schoolers.
